Psychotherapy

Kristen Seetahal is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and teacher (OCT), specializing in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Studies and Special Education. Her focus is on helping children and adults heal from sexual abuse, violent crime, exploitation, abuse, and other traumatic events. Having been born and raised in the Grey-Bruce region, Kristen recognizes the urgency of expanding the region’s existence of safe and stigma-free spaces. Her therapeutic practices are neuroaffirming and 2SLGBTQ+ affirming, valuing people of all backgrounds, sexualities, and gender identities.

Kristen has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, A Bachelor’s of Education, and a Bilingual Honours Bachelor’s of Arts. She holds professional memberships with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and the Ontario College of Teachers. She has completed additional certifications to support children and youth living with diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

In addition to her therapeutic practice, Kristen loves to engage in outreach and advocacy work. In the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), she was involved in initiatives to raise awareness and support for people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS. This included partnering with a GTA-based nurse practitioner to provide harm reduction, emergency counselling, and medical care to people involved in the street-based sex industry. Locally, she co-facilitated school-based 2SLGBTQ+ youth groups, supported Safe N’ Sound in their 2024 planning/implementation of International Overdose Awareness Day events, and co-hosted a trauma-informed Yoga event for bereaved families to raise funds for Brightshores NICU.
